Community is at the heart of what we do, and this festive season is no exception. A host of causes in our islands’ communities have benefitted thanks to the amazing generosity of Members and customers. Here’s a look at some of the ways your generosity has made an impact.

Community Wish Tree 

Our popular Christmas Wish Trees returned to Grand Marché stores in recent weeks to help spread some Christmas cheer in the community. By taking a tag from the tree, then wrapping and returning the requested gifts, Christmas will be a bit more special for people in our community. 

In Jersey, we teamed up with our friends at Jersey’s Mental Health Service and Jersey Association of Youth and Friendship (JAYF), to gather the wishes of islanders who could benefit from some festive cheer. 

In Guernsey, Rotary Club of Guernsey’s Christmas Tree of Joy ensured vulnerable members of both island’s communities will benefit.

Christmas events

By boogieing around store to Christmas classics and donning some festive face paint, Members and customers have raised money for three fantastic local causes. That’s thanks to our Christmas Silent Disco at Grand Marché St Helier (raising money for Macmillan Jersey) and Festive Face Painting events at Grand Marché St Helier and Grand Marché St Peter (raising money for Jersey Hospice and Jersey Cheshire Home).

Awareness Days 

78 charities across Jersey and Guernsey this year have benefitted from Awareness Days at Grand Marché stores. Thanks to you, our customers and Members, these events have raised incredible amounts for many fantastic causes. 

We wanted to highlight the work of community superstar, William who has raised money for various charities since 2017 by selling Magic Reindeer Food. William said: ‘The Co-op has helped me loads since 2017. Each year (apart from 2020) we have had a table at the Grand Marché St Helier store and so many people have stopped to talk to us, buy my reindeer food or to donate.  

‘Over the years I have raised money for JCCT, Milli’s Centre for Separated Families and Guide Dogs Jersey.  I would like to thank everyone at the store for always being so kind and supportive of my charity days.’
